I was tasked with creating the VDU Terminal prop from Fallout 1 for the Vault13 mod project. The poly budget I was given was around four thousand and with a maximum of 2K texture map.
The hardest part was interpreting the original VDU sprites, some parts were not clear, due to the original low resolution. I then turned to real-world reference images for vintage hardware and original fallout artwork to help fill the gaps.

It would have been nice to have a bit more in the poly budget to add details, like Vacuum tubes, Solid-state diodes, Thyratrons, Magnetic drums and magnetic tapes to help build up the complexity and silhouette of the model.

Ultimately, I did enjoy working on this model, it was a challenge to reinterpret it.
